$650 690, 4GB with 512 bit, this can't possibly be real, anyone know whats going on, or did 690s really drop from $1,000 they used to be?

Makes sense since the performance isn't much different than a 780ti, produces a ton more heat, uses more power and makes a lot more noise.gear999 said:
Not that much of a value considering you can have a GTX 770 SLI setup for around the same price of those 690's.P.S. A GTX 770 is a beefy GTX 680, so GTX 770 SLI has more performance than 690.
Ya but, isn't a single card always better than SLI?
Also I AM right that it was originally a $1k card, no? This just baffles me, considering buying it ATM.

Not always. Dual GPU cards are generally better for those who have smaller cases or do not have SLI motherboards. The GPU's on dual GPU cards are always downclocked to keep everything cool. Even downclocked, they are still hotter than a SLI setup. With SLI, there is no downclocks but there is better thermals.
And yes, the 690 was a $1K card but that was back in 2012. Just like how the GTX 580 was $350-400 in 2011 and now you can grab one for $100 on eBay.

The clocks depend on the cooling solution. Those 295x2 cards are clocked faster than the single 290x (reference spec) cards. A lot less power loss on the dual GPU card vs the SLI/CFX route.

Would it be better for me to just get a second 680?

If you have the power supply, motherboard and case to support a second 680, that would be a better and probably cheaper route.Delroy Monjo said:

I have the 680 classified, do I need another classy as they are sort of rare and expensive now, or just go with a regular 680?
