I have a Windows 7 32 bit Operating System, and i know that i have a 64 bit compatible processor, as seen here: http://ark.intel.com/products/30785/Intel-Core2-Duo-Pro...

But whenever i try to open the 64 bit setup, it just says that this version of
of this file is not compatible with your version of Windows.

Are you trying to install a 64-bit program on your 32-bit OS or upgrade your OS to 64-bit?

yes there is no upgrade path from a 32 bit OS to a 64. your only solution is to do a clean install of the 64bit version of Win7. If you do this over the drive that already has windows on it. it will automatically store all the old files in a directory so you can access the data later on.

Are you booting from the disk (after configuring the BIOS) or just trying to run the disk from Windows.

Because you have to be doing the former if you want the installation to work.

If you want to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows, you'll need to back up your files and then perform a Custom installation of the 64-bit version of Windows. For more information, see Installing and reinstalling Windows.

Step 3 - boot from the Win 7 64bit DVD and install. As noted above, you cannot run the install from within a running 32bit Windows install.

Step 1: Save your personal files elsewhere,
Step 2: Collect all your application install disks, serial numbers, and passwords

Oh yeah i forgot about that, since the last installation i installed told you to restart your computer after opening it. Sorry i thought it was an error that wouldn't let me install it at all.
