I'm wondering about getting a mechanical keyboard. However, I have this beastly thing.

I'm not sure if it's mechanical or not. I've popped off the keycap, and it doesn't have any mechanical-looking switches. However, it's sort of clicky. Under the switches, there's this pale circle thing. If this isn't mechanical, would it be worth it to switch? I play lots of FPS games and Dota 2. I like the clickyness of the Cherry MX Blues. If you're feeling up to it feel free to recommend a keyboard. I'm considering the Razer Blackwidow.

Depends on your budget really, I personally use mechanical.
I have a SteelSeries Apex RAW don't bother with the APEX... it only gives you some fancy coloured keys xD
It costs around £50, partly only because of some programmable keys around the keyboard.

A lot of people will agree with me on this, but Razer is NOT the way to go with any PC peripherals. I have friends that have had computer mice, keyboards and headsets all break or go faulty within the space of a few months. Expensive isn't always best.

Conclusion is, definitely get a mechanical keyboard but look around. You might like mine, you might like that Dell one it is up to your preferences.

If you want a nice cheap mechanical keyboard check out the new Tt eSports Poseidon ZX (http://www.amazon.com/Tt-eSPORTS-POSEIDON-Edition-KB-PZX-KLBLUS-01/dp/B00MB0QMJ0) or if you want the older, full size and slightly cheaper one the Poseidon Z (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HZE2PJS/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1535523722&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00MB0QMJ0&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=090YMK38ENHZJDCFP356)

Depends if you will make the most of having macro support. Don't spend too much if you're only planning on using one or two macros. Otherwise, do consider how often you type quantities of text...mechnical keyboards aren't for everyone when it comes to typing

I'm getting the Logitech Proteus Core, so macros won't be an issue. I live by a Micro Center, and they'll replace any Razer keyboard I buy from them that screws up. I've heard good things about them as well. Is it true that with their green switches it's easier to double-tap than the blue switches, but still retaining the clickiness?

I've got the razer non mechanical keyboard and it's really good, my friends have the mechanical ones and ive tried them, both are very good, mechanical keys just means they last longer and need a less pressure fpr activation, the go to keyboars though are the corsair k70's, they are probably the best value for money, razer is overpriced and i'm not even biased, I own a razer blackwidow and deathadder
