When am I supposed to hear the POST Beep?

I just built a gaming PC and I believe I installed the internal speaker correctly. When I turn it on I don't hear any beep. When am I supposed to hear it? I literally have nothing on the computer yet. I haven't set it up or anything, I have just turned it on to test it then off. Thanks.

A beep means something is wrong, so no beep is usually good!

I haven't had a machine beep in years on start up. the older machines used to give you that all's good beep a few seconds after start up. then you need to realize most boards/cases no longer have speakers. have to supply your own.

Is there a reason that you need to hear the beep? If everything is working correctly then it is kind of pointless. Does your motherboard have an LED debug display on the board? If so, this kind of takes the place of listening to beeps to try and find the issue.

It used to be that most computers would beep at least once on start up to signal that all was clear; however, these were the days that most computers had internal speakers as well

that's not true. kind of misleading. the first beep on start up means all is good. any other beeps or beep codes means some sort of problem somewhere.
