I have just purchased a 3gb XFX R9 280X Black edition ;
1080 MHz Core 2048 Stream Processors 384 Bit Memory 6200 MHz Memory Clock

I currently have a 2gb XFX R7850 Core Edition ;
985 MHz self OC'd Core, 1200 Stream Processors, 256 Bit Memory, 4800 MHz Memory Clock

My motherboard is compatible with good lanes and I have a silver rated 750W PSU.

What I am wondering, is if I should crossfire the two, or would the performance hit the 280X would
take to scale itself down to the 7850 specs negate the benefit?

i was planning on cfx 280x originally, but i was informed otherwise. if you want to do that, just make sure you up your psu to 850 watts. the 750 will likely not cover the needs, i have been told this and read it several times.

I have just watched several videos of people testing crossfire setups and they're peaking under full benchmark load at 550w with an OC'd cpu, which should give me enough headroom. I will upgrade if there is a problem, but people are doing it fine on 750.

Not the information I'm looking for anyway, just want to know if I'll get a performance boost cfxing with the 7850 or not.
