HDD wont fit in case

this is my first build, I bought a merc alpha bit fenix case that holds 3.5" hdd. I bought a 3.5" barracuda hdd model st1000dm003 but it will not fit, the instructions say to just slide it in but i just cant. i measured the drive and it is actually 4" so idk how that's possible when its model is only 3.5". idk if i need to bend something but again, very vague instructions. please help because im scratching the hell out of it. Answers are greatly appreciated!

i doubt i can return anything because first its all from online and been sitting in my room for almost 2 weeks because of a ups mess up that had me wait for other parts also i already put a lot of stuff in it and scratched up the hdd

It will fit in part way but then it becomes very tight and cant get it all the way in without scrapping the hell out of it and getting it almost stuck. I don't understand this because the only size the model comes in is 3.5 yet the instructions don't clarify bending metal tabs back to make it fit.
