Greetings,

I would like to preface this by stating that I am a advanced networking student so I consider myself relatively tech savvy. That being said, I would like to consult you guys before giving up on a perfectly good router. My issue is this:

I currently have 60Mbps through Charter. When I am hard wired to my router I get exactly that. When I am using wireless on my laptop or the wireless nic (Rosewill RNX-N20PCe) in my desktop, I get roughly 20 - 30 Mbps. Both are capable of handling 60 Mbps. I have tried messing with just about every setting I can think of and then some. Nothing has improved this. Any suggestions?

First rule with wireless speed numbers is assume they are all lies. The marketing guys do everything possible to confuse these issues doing stuff like adding together the 2.4g and 5g rates or ignoring the fact that wireless is half duplex. You never will even get close to those rated speeds.

If you look at this link where they tested routers including the one you indicate you will see you are getting about what they did for that router.

Even worse these test assume only a single wireless client connected to the wireless it degrades even more when you start using multiple devices off the same wireless router.
