Hello there! I've had my rig for almost a year now and have been ecstatic with its performance. However, it's genetic that I can never leave things alone, and thus have the itch to upgrade my graphics card. I'll let the below info speak for itself:

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Next few weeks

BUDGET RANGE: $250 and $280 USD (I don't really do rebates)

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, movies, everyday tasks. Currently I'm only playing The Sims 3 with all the expansion and stuff packs but will probably be getting Sims 4 and would like to play other games as well. One thing I ask that you refrain from is telling me "it's just Sims" because it's more demanding than people think. Not only that, it's a resource hog.

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: Sapphire Radeon HD 7790 Dual X OC version, Seasonic X560 560 watt 80 Plus Gold PSU

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: CPU is an AMD FX 6100. 8GB of DDR3 memory, Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 mobo, Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus case, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU fan

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg, Tigerdirect

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: United States

PARTS PREFERENCES: For AMD cards either Sapphire or Gigabyte; for NVIDIA I'm pretty much wide open

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Nope

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1600x900

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Card must have exceptional cooling

Any advice is much appreciated!

Ok, thanks for those. I was actually looking at the Sapphire R9 280x TOXIC edition, but according to Sapphire's web-site, a 750w PSU is required/recommended; I suppose what I could do, then, is upgrade my PSU and give my dad, who is building his own computer as well, the X560 I currently have in mine. He is going to be getting my HD 7790 as well.

I wanted to ask though - is there any significant difference between a 280x TOXIC edition and something like a Tri-X Vapor X or a Dual X 280x card (all from Sapphire) other than the price and PSU requirements?

Also, if I decide on a Sapphire 280x and upgrade my PSU, would I be better off sticking with a bigger Seasonic or getting something like one of those EVGA full Modular G2's? The latter has an impressive 10 year warranty.

ETA: Changed my mind and am now deciding to go with the TOXIC 280x's little brother, the TOXIC 270x. I decided, oddly enough, that since I don't game on super high resolution or with all my settings maxed out (except for Sims), I *probably* don't need a card quite so powerful, but still want something that will be able to play anything I want be it Sims or Bioshock Infinite, I figure I can't go wrong with that particular 270x card from Sapphire. The card has everything I want (gotta love that backplate especially!) and I still get 3 games with it! :D

That being said, will I still have to upgrade my PSU? Like I said, I have a Seasonic X560, but will it be enough?
