i have the Acer Aspire 2930Z notebook. The keyboard has stopped working so i have been using a usb keyboard. i have installed

The keyboard was working prior to install of Mint? If so, it is probably a config or driver issue. If you are not locked in to Mint yet, I would try a different distro (maybe LUbuntu or XUbuntu) or different version of Mint (eg XFCE if you are using MATE).
