Still might not work, using identical sticks is ideal, and only sticks from the same kit are guaranteed to work together.

As Eduello stated best is to have same brand, speed, size, voltage, timing and even time and place where it was manufactured + even better if those 4 rams were already tested together.

BUT

You can really know only if you try.
In case you put those 4 rams together, those faster 2x4GB will lower speed to 1600 to match slower pair.
Also be careful to put same size to same colored slots if you got double channel motherboard.

In short unless you plan to later replace 2x2 GB 1600 rams there is no point to buy 2x4 GB 2400 because they will run at lower speed anyway. So you can buy 2x4GB 1600 instead to save some money.
Before I mixed without problem even 3 rams of various age where one was 256MB, one 128MB and one 64MB (yeah it was long time ago and it was not even ddr2 i think) and it worked without issues.

So by design there is no reason for those 4 rams not to work together, but as was stated noone can guarantee anything until you try it yourself.
