CPU fo cheap build

I wasn't planning for a pc..but I just got a bargain on a Powercolor R7 260X and a HyperXblu 8Gb..now I'm pushing on to building it in a CM elite 110..basically a m-itx build but I don't know what CPU to get, maybe you guys can clear things out for me. I'm thinking of getting APUs hoping for dual graphics someday and I just want to try out AMD processors..and I'm really searching for the best at the least expense,something viable atleast for the next 5 years.

That thing clocks like mad.

There's really no point in going for an APU if you'll be using a discrete graphics card. It'll be more expensive and you'll end up with a less powerful CPU.

If you aren't a hardcore gamer. Then try the AMD FX-6300. But before conclusion please specify the motherboard. As not all CPU are compatible with all motherboards. It depends on the socket you have.

An APU makes no sense since you have a dedicated GPU. Either go Intel or get an Athlon x4 760k. I'd go Intel since there is no upgrade path if you get that Athlon.

AM3+ CPUs are out the window since there are no mini-ITX AM3+ boards.

Maybe I'm mis-reading, but it doesn't sound like he has a motherboard picked out yet. If that's the case, I second the G3258. As long as you're going to overclock it, its the best deal out there. And it gives you an upgrade path to any other LGA-1150 processor, including Broadwell.

You knew what know motherboard. Just go with the Pentium like everybody listed and it is a beast when overclocked. Don't go for APU. Will you even game?

Thanks for the responses..I thought it's better to figure out the CPU first before the mobo..right?I play MOSTly DOTA 2..I've been searching for the best CPU for the R7 260X and Athlonx4 760k comes up most..although I'm reading about AMD processors' heat generation,I'm just worrying when I get to cram them in a CoolerMaster Elite110 and I live somewhere that gets hotter than 30 degrees celcius at times.

The G3258 is faster than the Athlon II X4 750K in every game in this performance review. They didn't test Dota 2 specifically, but older engines (like Source, which Dota 2 is based on) are likely to favor fewer faster cores even more so than games using newer engines.

Also of note is the Power Consumption section, where the G3258 is more efficient and less power-hungry even when overclocked, which should translate into cooler operation.

Edit: Just noticed that's the 750K, not the 760K. The 760K is a bit faster and probably would fare better in the benchmarks, but its also more expensive and has the same 100-watt TDP.

The i3-4150 is the chip you want. You can use the G3258 if you want, but I don't see anything but a novelty there. Pairing a $65 CPU with a $120+ Z97 ITX motherboard to be able to overclock it to i3 class performance class doesn't make any sense to me, especially not in an ITX chassis where power dissipation should be kept to a minimum for practicality purposes. The i3 will run fine on it's stock cooler, which is a comfortable fit in the 110. Consider something like the Gigabyte GA-B85N PHOENIX-WIFI

FYI: There is no "dual graphics" option for an APU + 260X, and even if there were it wouldn't work very well with any of the current implementations of that technology. Asymmetrical crossfire configurations are problematic at best. Even in the "supported" configurations there are frame pacing issues. This is because one of the GPUs is sharing a memory controller with a CPU, while the other isn't. This causes unpredictable latency issues for job completion.

The i3-4150 is 15-50% faster than a 760K depending on workload, and dissipates about half the power. The only reason to go with one of the Athlons is if you are interested in the novelty of performance tuning an AMD system more-so than the practicality of the i3. I am one of those individuals who lets novelty out-weigh practicality pretty often in my decisions about hardware. I built my wife an FM2 ITX system that uses an A10-6800K. I have the CPU overclocked to 4.7ghz and the iGPU overclocked to 1.2ghz. It dissipates a lot of heat but is "interesting." At 4.7ghz, it can trade blows with an i3 depending on the workload, so it's not bad. You could technically do something like this in the 110 with a low profile HSF like an AXP100 or a 120mm AIO CLC, but you'd have to accept that you aren't doing it because it's a better value or better performance, you're doing it because it's something interesting and different to do for the sake of doing more-so than the results.

Thank you all..what would then be the best budget ITX LGA1150 mobo? something that can overclock and somehow be "futureproof"..
And also I've read about Athlon x4 860k..what do you think of it?

The 860k, like the Pentium G3258, is a bit of a novelty that will require overclocking to offer the real-time workload performance of the stock clocked i3. Unfortunately, until we see some overclocking results/trending its going to be a tough call as to whether the 860k offers any performance benifits over the 760K once overclocked.

So if I go Intel, I'd better go for an i3? Because I have a friend who will give me a 4th gen i3..although I know all i3s are OC locked, is this a particular disadvantage compared to G3258? I see I'd be putting either in a MSI Z97 ITX board for possible upgrade to Broadwell in a few years. As of going for AMD, benchmarks of the 860k are what I'm waiting for til' I setup my rig..

If the novelty of the 860k interests you it may be worth a shot. Once overclocking it will have more raw execution throughput than an i3 or overclocked pentium. The price on it is down to $84 now. Not bad. Just keep in mind there will likely never be anything worth upgrading to beyond that on the FXm2+ platform. (this is not uncommon though, most platforms don't see any useful upgrade paths, except those artificially created by buying into a low end CPU on that platform in the first place). Also, the execution throughput available to any single thread would still be higher on the i3 or pentium, so some poorly threaded workloads would always run better on haswell.
