My old system stopped working a year or so ago, only used it for old games etc as I have a newer rig but basically it stopped posting, all lights up and fans spn up etc but no beeps, no display etc.
The specs are -
Intel QX6800
Asus striker extreme
GTX 580
Coolermaster 1000w psu

I didnt really bother with it for a while as didnt use it for a lot but suspected it was either the motherboard or the psu. A few weeks ago I saw a secondhand striker extreme which I bought, was sold as tested and working so assume it is. Installed this board and does exactly the same. So I got a psu tester and everything that should light up does so, the only ones that dont are the -5v on the atx and the 3.3v ones on the 8 pin but again dont think any of these are needed.
So basically now im down to the cpu, would a cpu failing cause this error? I would have imagined it to still boot to the post screen and error with cpu fail or a beep error but it doesnt do any of this.
If not the cpu, what else could be causing it?
Its not that important as its a backup but ive spent a few hours on it now and wouldnt mind getting it working again.

Many thanks.

Indeed it did yeah, first stick I tried in first slot and got the bios, so just need to mess around now to find out which stick is faulty.
Never realised RAM would cause this kind of error - thought they would either post but fail the mem test or give a beep code, lesson learned :)
Many thanks.
