I have that Crucial RAM in my rig (in sig). It is very good RAM and I would highly recommend it.

The Crucial RAM is Cl 8 while the HyperX is Cl 10. Cl 8 is much better! If you loosen the timings on the Crucial RAM to Cl 10 it can OC to about 2000 MHz

The Crucial RAM is low voltage (1.35 v.) which is another bonus.

Get the Crucial!

Out of interest how do I check the compatibility of the RAM, other than checking the slots what else should I look at? :)

Likely you are ok.
To be certain see if either kit is on the list of supported ram.
Either on the asus QVL ram support list, or on the corsair list of supported ram for your motherboard.
