Hey there,

I'm contemplating upgrading to an X99 board from X79 Gigabyte G1.Assassin 2. I'm new to the world of ASUS and was wondering if anyone could point out some differences between these two new Motherboards please :)

Or maybe should I move to say Z97 because I haven't really enjoyed my current motherboard :/

Cheers!

here is a comparison, unless you need the z97 chipset don't buy it. It was made for certain processors such as the devil canyons range.

Hmm, I'm not sure the price of the X99 plus new memory, and CPU warrants an upgrade just yet :/

Personally i wouldn't upgrade, I would wait until there is a significant increase. Mark a solution if it was solved :)

Maybe wait until Skylake in Q2 next year. Socket 1151 and Z170 chipset if I am not mistaken. It will have DDR4 support and supposed to have PCI Express 4.0. This will be an architecture change as opposed to a revision to Haswell/Broadwell.
