Dear XFX

i bought a card on 4-1-2013. still have 4 months of warranty. my card is behaving strange. im not 100% sure if its my card but this are my problems

While gaming :
While gaming i lose Signal it doesnt happen alot. but sometimes it happens twice a day. and somedays it doesnt happen.

While Browsing :
While browsing i am getting a Blue screen of death with a Atikmdag.sys error happends like twice a day.

When pc has been off for a little while :
when im going to sleep i shut off my pc. when i wake up i boot it up and start gaming. the first couple minutes its lagging alot.

http://imgur.com/a/juczN
when something hppends im trying to make a picture. but a blue screen is just there for a couple seconds. the link i putted are the moments i captured.

i can RMA it but im afraid about this :
like u have readed i dont get alot problems non stop but just some in a day whice is very annoying.

they will probably benchmark it for a couple of hours. but im afraid they wont find any problems while they are benchmarking it since it are just 2 blue screens a day. 2x signal loss if it isnt 0 or 1.

and the main question is this caused by the graphics card ?

my pc specs
CPU X4 640
Ram 4GB ddr3 1600mhz
PSU Antec high current gamer 400W
Case aerocool X1 predator
GPU Xfx 7770 Double dissipation

Normally when you RMA an item, you work with their support with the issue for a bit and determine it's likely the card. Or you straight up RMA it for the reasons you state. If they accept the RMA, they ship you a new (refurb) card as a replacement. It's not like they get your card in their shop and test it and go "Man this guy is nuts! It works fine. Send it back. Charge him for shipping! Infect him with SARS while you're at it!"

I would just RMA it myself.

okay so what if i send my card to my local shop where i bought it. and they will benchmark it and dont find anything. wont i be charged for the time they tested it at the local store. and what if its something else

or are those problems most caused by the graphics card ?

and how about my specs ?

Honestly it still sounds like the video card. I wouldn't even bother talking to the place you bought it from as they WILL charge you for diagnostics. Just deal directly with XFX at http://www.xfxsupport.com/ and talk to their support guys. Get an RMA through XFX, if need be. Not your local computer shop.

okay i sended a ticket similair to this message to XFX.

might be a stupid question but i never send items. do i need to pay shipping costs and how long can it take the total process ?

what if the XFX cant find the problem in the card. will i still get charged and my card get sended back ?

All companies handle RMA replacements differently. Some will send you a replacement item first, with a return shipping label and you send the "broken" one back, no charge to you. Some require you to send your item in before they ship you your replacement. That will cost you a few dollars. Look at USPS Flat Rate, Large or Medium boxes with good padding.

They will ship you a replacement without testing your card. When they do get around to testing your card, if they don't find anything wrong, you'll never hear about it. You'll be using the one they sent you and you won't have to worry about it anymore.

awesome im waiting on their reply. when they confirm everything ill ask them about how and what are their rules about replacement etc.

wilt they send a replacement whice is the same card or a same one in specs. since my PSU is 400W so will it be enough ?

They'll send you the same card. In the strange event they don't have the one you are getting replaced, a lot of times they'll give you an upgrade to the next model up. I've had that happen twice, so good luck!

okay i went to dinner and let run Furmark at 1920x1080 fullscreen X4 on benchmarking. to be sure i recorded my screen with a camcorder. nothing happend. so 22minutes of benchmarking went fine.

thats what im afraid of that they cant find the source of the problem somehow. but like i already though. they dont have really alot of time to test 1 by 1 and spend hours. my neighbour says. if they can see its broken its going for 100% in the bin and will send u a new one

after i had contact with XFX about how and what i will send them the card

if people are following this topic i will keep it updated if u want to

so i did furmark burn in test at 1920x1080 4x msaa fullscreen for 1 hour and 15min long. my fps was 9 and min 47 degrees max 67 degrees. it runned for 1 hour withouth any problem except the laggs.

but still the blue screens / signall loss and lagg on a just booted pc i still do have those.

my graphics card does function. but just when the pc boots up and i game my gameplay lags alot and skipping frames. also signal loss and blue screens while browsing ( Atikmday.sys )

is this a graphics card problem and will they accept the RMA for my problems ?

update on ticket on XFX

You can borrow the card to your friends or neighbours to see if the issue follow the card.

If yes, the card should be faulty.

Although you said you worry about the reseller will reject you but if you deal with us directly, you need to pay shipping cost and tax.

Also, it will take 1 or 2 months to send back.

Therefore, I still suggest you contact the reseller first.

Best regards

****

Two months what? I don't know who you've warrantied with but that is insane. RMA the card. Don't question it anymore. Don't take it to a neighbor or the store. The store will charge you to replace or won't replace it at all or they'll just tell you to contact XFX like you've done.

If they give you an RMA number, you send them the card. The day or they day after they receive your card, they will ship you a new one. So as long as you don't send it slow mail, you are looking at about 7-10 day turn around. When you ship it, if you're in the U.S. send it in a USPS Priority Flat Rate box. It'll be 2-3 days shipping and cheap with tracking.

I guess it will take that long because of where you live. You shouldn't be worried about the RMA. The only thing I'd be worried about it is the turn around time. Because you're outside of the U.S., if XFX authorizes the RMA, try talking to the shop you bought it from. Tell them you got authorized for an RMA from XFX but were wondering if they would be willing to exchange it for you there.

Just a thought.

i called the local shop where i bought the card and i got my pro's and cons a bout bringing it to them.

the pro's are if they got the card in the store they will replace it without contacting XFX. my card isnt availible anymore so i they need to contact xfx about what to do. most likely they need to send it to XFX so XFX can send me a replacement.

im currently want to be sure the card is broken. im benchmarking it now on furmark 1920x1080 full screen msaa x0 for 1 hour and 30 minutes so far nothing.

but how is xfx going to find the problem if my card passes the 5 hour benchmark without any problem.

the local store isnt just a local store. but one of the biggest in the country ( Azerty.nl )

it sells all kinds of things take a look at their website

they have a very good overall review.

the problem is i think they wont find the problem. i can provide them the proofs of blue screens and the stripes that i uploaded before. more i cant. the problem i think is im benchmarking it now for 5 hours its currently at 1 hour 30 min. but what if it passes the 5 hjour. how will they find the problem ?

Benchmarking doesn't always find the problem so I can't really comment. Bottom line is you're having a problem, myself and others have said it's likely the video card, just get it replaced any way you're comfortable with.

I suspect that in a lot of these cases the better companies (XFX included) tend to err on the side of sending out new hardware if there is any question. The cards are worth a lot less to them than they are to us, and its better to have happy, loyal customers than to save a few bucks. Additionally, you have to consider that very rarely are cards failing 100% regularly. Issues with video cards and similar hardware often behave the way yours does, and I'm sure XFX is well aware of the kind of failures their products are likely to experience.

At the very least, contact XFX support, explain the issue, and explain your worries about them being able to find the problem. Its at least worth seeing what they have to say about it. Chances are it won't be anywhere near as difficult as you're concerned about.

Thanks for the many reply's

i talked alot to the store where i bought it. and i sended the guy who has been talking to me the proofs of blue screens and stripes.

yesterday i had 2 blue screens. today so far 1 blue screen one of those 3 i could take a picture with a higher end camera.

on request of the store i installed a fresh windows and upgraded to 64 bit. im hoping that i wont see those stripes etc again.

the guy at the store recommanded me. that those problems are my GPU but he is not sure if xfx will find it. he suggested me to wait and hope :) that the card will behave more stranger to be sure to send it. otherwise if ill send it today. than its getting to china. if they discover its not broken its sended back in the original shape. that will be 1-2 months later. meaning i lost 1-2 months of my warranty. so he suggested me to wait until the problems become worser. if not bring it before the warranty period to us and we will ship it to XFX.

since the problems are just not that big and occur once or twice a day. i think i will be waiting and HOPING ALOT it will break withing the warranty period. if not ill send it the last month ( December 2014 ) for an RMA to xfx with the same proof's and new proof that i can make from now on

how does that sound ?

Well you don't appear to be reading what people are telling you. If you send it to XFX, they do not test your card and send it back to you if they don't find problems. If you send it back to XFX, they will just send you a replacement, without testing your card first. They don't care if the one you sent them works or not. They would rather send you something they've tested and certified to make sure you're a happy customer, as oxiide said.
