Hello I just updated my system, from GTX550 Ti to Gigabyte GTX770.
(FYI my PSU is Seasonic SS-650HT 650W) Now here whats happened to me.

After I installed the GTX770 i didn't know which power cables to connect and the quick guide did not gave me a clue.. If you know the 770 has 2 slots for power.

  • ■ So what I did at first was to plug only on 6pin to the GPU. It didn't work..
the pc booted but but it show nothing on the screen.

  • ■ Next I tried to use both of the "molex to 6pin" and "molex to 8pin" connectors that came with the 770. this time the screen show the logo of the mobo but it did not start. also it start beeping, once every 20 sec (more or less).
At that point I thought that something might be wrong so i try to connect with the onboard card and it worked! but before windows load a BIOS mesage came on screen that told me: Boot Failure Detected and promded me to load the default values. so i did and the Windows opened correctly.

  • ■ So i tried to reinstall the 770.
The PSU 8pin didn't fit so what i did was use the PSU 6pin and the 8pin connecto that came with the 770. I got the same result, BUT at that moment I stoped trying and start searching the net with my laptop for a solution, leaving the pc open. after 4 Beeps the windows loaded correclty and the pc saw my new card!

but each time i try to restart my pc it does the same think with the 4 beeps. (Also i cannot enter BIOS, i keep pressing Del button but nothing happens...

Can you please help me.. i'm worried with those beeps...

Solution
the PSU is fine the motherboard and the card is well supported.
Most 770's use one six pin and one 8 pin. Choose any two of the PCI-e lines, install the gpu in the uppermost pci-e lane (closest to cpu), plug in one line use both the six pin plus the two pin into the 8 pin connector, and plug just the 6 pin portion of the second line into the 6 pin connector. Let the 2pin portion of the second line "dangle" - it will be unused.

And talking about the beeps if the beeps are long then the Graphics card not inserted properly and if the beeps are short then power error.
