Ever since I upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1, I´ve had issues. I have a new HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC. After many intents to resolve those hick-ups, I must´ve accidentally ended up deleting my network adapters all together, as now I can´t connect to internet, be it through cable or wireless, nothing works! No networks available. The two messages I keep on receiving says the following:

Problems found

The Realtek PCle FE Family Controller adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems.
The Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems.
Code 10 for both

Mayday Mayday! This is my work laptop, please help me!! I´m writing this now from my other laptop (an older windows 7 Toshiba), where the internet connection has no problems what so ever. Have tried to download drivers from the net to this one, and then copy to DVD to be download at my Pavilion, but have not succeeded. I´m not too computer savvy, so please don´t give me very technical info, as I probably won´t get it, grrrrr...what do you suggest?

Thankful beforehand (for hopefully a fast answer!)

There are several other options but they're somewhat complicated and I'm hesitant to recommend them without being there to see the prompts and results. If restore doesn't work, I'll figure out how to simplify the instructions for some workarounds.

To restore your PC to an earlier point in time (try to pick a restore point dated prior to your wireless issues. If one isn't available, pick the earliest available):

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)

Enter Control Panel in the search box, and tap or click Control Panel.

Enter Recovery in the Control Panel search box, and then tap or...
Your on the right track as far as downloading the drivers on the working computer and transferring them over to the one needing them. If you have a USB thumb drive this would probably be the best method so you do not burn through your available CDs and DVDs but either method should work.

When you put the DVD with the drivers into the HP and attempted to install them what happened? Also you may want to link the location you are downloading the drivers from to ensure you are getting the correct ones. I know some manufacturers have multiple brand drivers for their wireless so it might take a few attempts before you get the correct ones.

You will also want to look for the ethernet drivers since you stated that no longer works either.

What is "laptop support disk"? I just ran a driver update at the device manager, and for both drivers it says "the driver software for your device is up to date"...? But it can´t be started...? I´m confused.

When you bought your laptop there should have been a CD that came with it which contained drivers for the laptop.

Nothing happened when I tried with downloading from a DVD...wonder if I had the right one then...? I ran a driver update at the device manager, and for both it says "the driver software for your device is up to date" but neither of them can be started due to an error with a code 10...? What´s that? There are these additional adapters that cannot be started either (with the same code 10, what ever that means now):
WAN Miniport (IP)
WAN Miniport (IPv6)
WAN Miniport (Network Monitor)

No, I didn´t get any cd for anything! Should I?? I bought from Amazon...a brand new...less than a year old...

Laptops don't always come with support CDs. What's the exact model number of your laptop? It should be on a data sticker on the bottom of your laptop case. Should look like "HP Pavilion 15-nXXXXX". I'll link the support page along with a list of drivers to download.

For the miniport issues:

To remove each non-working miniport, do the following:
1.Right click on the non-working miniport, choose “Update Driver”.
2.Choose “Browse my computer”.
3.In the next window, choose “Let me pick driver from a list”.
4.Uncheck “Show compatible hardware”. From the “Manufacturer” list, choose “Microsoft”, and from the “Network Adapter” list, choose “Generic Mobile Broadband Adapter”. (It can be any device the user is allowed to uninstall.)
5.Back in the device manager, delete the device that just turned into the “Generic Mobile Broadband Adapter” device.
Once done removing the bad miniports, reboot computer. Don’t skip this, it’s important. Otherwise there is a change things will go bad again.

The model number is 15-n020us...I´d appreciate if you could provide me the link, please! And okay, I´ve deleted now those bad Miniports, too, and waiting for the next step - which I reckon will be those links to download the drivers, which you will send me (can´t wait!)...have rebooted and all...I´m like a perfect student here, learning from a "veteran", lol. I will let you know how it goes! :) Keeping my fingers crossed here...

NOTE: It is recommended to remove the previous driver before installing new driver.

To do this, go to your Device Manager (just type Device Manager in the Windows 8.1 search feature and hit return), click on Network Adapters, then right-click on each adapter listed and select "Uninstall"

These instructions apply to both drivers linked at the bottom of this post:

1. Download the file by clicking the Download or Obtain Software button and saving the file to a folder on a CD/DVD or USB drive.

2. Insert the CD/DVD or USB in your laptop and copy the folder containing the drivers to your laptop's desktop.

3. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. If a message box titled Program Compatibility Assistant is displayed after the installation is complete, click This program installed correctly.

5. Restart the notebook.

Reboot your laptop after installing each driver.

Well, I did exactly what you said I should, and now after rebooting it still says (on device manager when updating the drivers after installing them) that "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it"...? Would I need to have some new Miniports then, too, to replace those that I uninstalled earlier, or do they install themselves automatically when these drivers are up to date? I´m lost...help...
