Good day all,

So I got a HP-Envy from craigslist (specs below) only paid $200 for it. It was realitivly new and I wanted something that I could upgrade and not blow a ton of money.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-envy-desktop-amd-a10-series-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive/3418038.p?id=1219091219075&skuId=3418038&ref=06&loc=01&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=3418038&extensionType=pla:g&s_kwcid=PTC!pla!!!80819144719!g!!52599681919&kpid=3418038&k_clickid=7fe29277-5d84-cc88-9a38-00004c4486f4&kpid=3418038

I also got off craigslist a sealed NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 for $150

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-670/specifications

Went in and replaced the graphics card and PSU and for a few months things were fine. Then the comp started getting random lock ups. Nothing specific, I couldn't replicate the issue it just happened randomly. Mouse lock up too so I knew it was hardware related. I did the basics (update drivers, reseating, air cleaning, air flow) and it started to happen less frequently.

Then one day my wife was browsing the net and the computer locked up, but this time when she restarted it, we got a 6-beep post error. Typically I say "ok GPU issues, lets do the basics". But this time things went bad. The end result is as follows:

Computer no long does anything. You power it on and you can't even get into BIOS. There is no onboard video so I put in the old video card that came with the base computer and I still get no output at all. Fan kick on but nothing more. I disconnected everything except the RAM and video card and same result. I pulled the battery and made sure I bled the system of all power hoping to clear what ever was locking it up but I still have same result.

I am a cheap man lol, I don't like to replace parts unless I know 100% it's my issue. Does anyone have any ideas? I appreciate everything ahead of time.

Wow first off thank you for the info. I realize now that the Best Buy link I put up is a bit off, but the specs are pretty close to what I have. The specs at the bottom of the page are best. Yeah, I got a great deal!!! lol

I inspected the board in detail (I work in an electronics field so I have access to micromin scopes and went into WAY too much detail lol) I don't see any obvious damage but I know even an open resistor may not be obvious. I'm at work right now but ill check the brand of PSU when I get home, I remember blue and grey box and got it from best Buy. thats all lol pretty sure its in the 500W range

Onus Thanks for letting me know that!!! I was getting ready to blow 150+ on something. I would however like to be sure it's the board before I go replacing it.
