Two nights ago I went to turn my pc on and the monitor was showing "no signal " it was hooked up to the dvi port on my graphics card . Tried a new dvi cable and it still didn't work . So I tried my VGA port and it worked . Then last night I turned my pc on and my monitor went back to no signal . How in the world could my dvi then my VGA ports stop working within a couple days

Open up the computer and try unplugging and reinstalling the graphics card. With thermal expansion and gravity they can slowly work themselves loose. Always the first thing I try.

Can be a graphics card problem. Have you tried using built-in GPU?

Im leaning towards the PSU, It could be that either ur CPU or your GPU are not getting enough juice. My brother had the same problem, sometimes it would just happen at random times. If you can try to check your voltages in the bios

Yes , I took the video card out of the pc , cleaned it up (barely any dust ) and reinstalled it . The inboard video from the motherboard is working . I just don't get how 1 port could go then a short time later another port went .

@m0j0 I'm using a 500w power supply and it's a 2.2g core 2 duo chip with an nvidia gt520 card . I've never messed with the voltage before . Also this pc has had the same hardware for years now . Ther have been no recent changes .

Go to bios, and then go to Hardware Health, it should say the 3V, 5V and 12V Voltages.

On the pc health menu it says

CPU temp 27c
System temp 28c
CPU fan speed 1415rpm
CPU vcore 1.296v
VDIMM 1.840v

I did this check with the monitor plugged in via VGA to the mobo

Did you scroll all the way down? cuz it should also say the 3,5,12 voltages as well, those are the most important as they will tell you if your PSU is giving out enough electricity to ur components.

Well here is a pic of my bios , it doesnt have the other voltages you had mentioned , I do have a program called speedfan and I think it is displaying what you were looking for on the bottom left.

Power supply ? Never would've expected that . So over time they can just put out less power ?

Yes because as you can see your System still runs, but after a bit its going to turn off because its not getting enough juice. so I recommend is getting a another PSU ASAP before the PSU causes any more damage to the components. My brother had this same problem, and since he procrastinating in getting another PSU his SSD died in the process. Anyways so he bought the EVGA 750B2, Johnny Guru gave it a 9/10 and its on sale at Newegg I suggest getting that http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I'd like to spend around 50$ or so . I built the pc in 2009 or so and I'm not looking to put much more into it at this point

Well I ended up picking up a brand new power supply this evening . Installed it and still no signal to my monitor . It is still the same 8v power reading as well through speedfan....:(

Please use HWMonitor and read the voltages value there. I'm still suspecting your GPU to be faulty.

Pl remove the graphics card from your PC and install it in any other PC available. It could be your friend's, colleagues, relative and check if the card is working ok there or still the same issue.
