I am confused between Asus AMD/ATI R7 260X Direct CUII and Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon R7 265. Which is a better GPU and would perform better with a AMD fx6300 CPU?

Actually not really.

The 265 is based off the HD 7850,the 260x is based off the 7790.

The 265 has the most horsepower,of the two.

I am totally a novice in this regard... Could you plz suggest if the processor and GPU would go down well with a Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 mobo ?

It isnt..even the generic number scheme suggest the 260x isnt better than the 265. And comparing numbers works in this case.

edit: straight from wiki

260x has 896 Unified Shaders,56 Texture Mapping Units and 16 Render Output Units which gives it 17.6GP/s(GigaPixels a second),61.6GP/s(Gigapixel a second) and a 104 GB/s bandwidth.

The 265 has 1024 Unified Shaders 64 Texture Mapping Units and 32 Render Output Units giving it 28.8GP/s, 57.6GP/s and 179GB/s bandwidth(Mostly due to the 256bit bus).

And finally the last question.. Will all this fit into a Cooler Master N300 KKN1 Cabinet and would a OCZ Power Supply - LMSP04 of 750 w (80 plus category) able to power all this?
