I currently have an intel core 2 duo e 6750 2.66ghz. Gpu is geforce gtx 260. 6gb ddr3 ram (can go to 8gb). Was gutted when I spent hours loading cod ghosts with upgrades (which take for ever on steam) to find my gpu does not support dx11 even though I have it installed. Need to upgrade but on a budget. Have read about bottle necking with some cards with this cpu. Any ideas - budget has to be under £100 and want to play gta 5 and watch dogs is this possible?

Solution
To play modern games, you will need a new CPU, GPU, motherboard and maybe some RAM if you want to keep your C2D in working order as a backup. Depending on what PSU model and how old it is, you may need a new PSU as well. As legend said, you are looking in the neighborhood of 400pounds for a complete upgrade.

Since you only have 100 to spend for now, you might want to start with the GPU. You could go with a R7-265 (if the PSU allows) or GTX750/750Ti.

You will not be able to get the most out of that R7-265 or GTX750 until you upgrade the rest of your system but at least you will have something decent to start with when you do unless you take a really long time to get around to that.

You should get at least 350 pounds to do a good upgrade

cheers for the suggestions. I knew upgrading cpu and gpu was going to be expensive so wanted a cheaper solution with a graphics card that would do for now without bottle necking. No problems with psu I dont think, upgraded last year when old one blew to 650w. Just want to play cod ghost and gta 5 without breaking the bank
