Windows 7 Local Area Network is "Unidentified"

I moved to University yesterday, and in each dorm there is an ethernet port. I lived in the same building last year and the wired network worked fine. This year I'm having trouble with it.

Specifically, I plug in the ethernet cable to the port, and windows says "identifying..." for a little while, but then settles on "Unidentified Network - no internet access", with the yellow exclamation sign.

I requested that someone come look at the ethernet port itself, but other than the possibility of that being broken, the tech support here sees no reason why I can't connect. Anyone here have ideas?

Windows 7 does have an unidentified network issue. Which version of Windows 7 are you running?

There are many threads on this issue, but one solution that often works is to change your MAC address on the Ethernet adapter using THIS free tool. I've used it many times and it often works, but there are many possible solutions depending on your version.

I'm using Windows 7 home premium 64-bit. I tried this morning again, and it seems that the problem has fixed itself. This makes me think it was an issue or oversight on my school's part. I also searched these forums last night and tried some solutions, mostly command prompts to reset various caches. Perhaps that had something to do with it, though if that was the solution, it's weird that it didn't actually work until now.

Scratch that - the error has returned. It was fine for about 3 hours before the yellow triangle came back. Here's my IP config, if that helps:
