I am using this board (AsRock 270 Extreme3):

http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970%20Extreme3/?cat=Memory

And I want this memory:
http://www.computervalley.ca/ax3u2000gc4g9b-2g/4gb-ddr3-2000g-pc3-16000-u-dimm-165v

Are they compatible?

I am using a FX-8350 as cpu so I think I have the 6 cores requirement cleared (Note5: The mainboard supports DDR3-2000 MHz DIMMs only when you install a 6-core cpu to the mainboard.) since it has 8 cores but I don't see those ram on the list so I don't know if they are compatible or not. Are only the rams on that list compatible with the MB?

Okay, Thanks a lot! Odd though, I asked the Support if it was supported and to cancel my order if it's not (I forgot to check before ordering) and they cancelled my order without a reply to my inquiry so I had no clue what's going on.

I don't know, my order was cancelled without a word. Only reason I could think of is because it wasn't on the list provided by Asrock but there are so few ram on it that I thought it would be weird if it is only compatible with what's written so I asked to confirm.

Anyway, thanks again. Reordered the thing.

Already bought and received it. It was really cheap (89.99 CA with 25 MIR) so I just picked up whatever I could come across on that was cheap and support SATA3. Not looking to make a great pc, just something I can use for another 5 years or so. I honestly don't know what are really the differences between Motherboard brands except which HDD they support, which ram they support, which cpu and socket they support then the number of PCI slot maybe? Second time I build a pc and I never was that good at it, just doing it coz it's slightly better and cheaper than buying a built one.

Asrock offered SATA 3, supports ddr3 rams at 1333-2000 MHz which is the range that the most common now in store, uses AMD cpus which is more cost performant IMO. No reason to not buy it. And sorry for late reply, left for work, I have night shifts.

What's wrong with Asrock anyway?
