So i recently bought a Antec Kuhler 950 but the trouble im having is with the software...
i set up a log for the temps but the temps when playing BF4 are not the same as what is shown
in programs like MSI afterburner or HWmonitor

How do i know which is showing me correct temps? Antec is showing a max of 42C while HWmonitor shows a max of 54C

Solution
Yeah HWmonitor is definitely wrong. But to be sure you could try tightening your CPU cooler's block more. A loose mount or incorrect installation usually leads to poor temps.

HWmonitor is not always accurate when measuring temperatures. Is it the software that antec provides for its pump that is reporting 42°C? also it would be useful to know what CPU you have. Either way it doesn't matter as both reported temperatures are find but I know how you feel wanting to know what they are.

The most reliable way to check your temps is in the BIOS. I've found that speccy does a decent job now especially after a few recent updates.

yeah pretty much the same at idle

also i know that bios is best place to check but i wanted to know what kind of temps i had while gaming - if its 54C then thats not that much lower than i was getting on stock air cooler which was 60-65C max

checked the cooler block and it was indeed too loose, when installing it the screws just kept spinning (the ones with springs on them) so i assumed they did that so you cant over tighten them...
However pushing them in a bit while tightening i managed to get them tight and no longer spinning...

i did set a log with Antec grid and it showed the max of 32C while playing bf4 for like 5 mins (HWmonitor shows 50C max) .... but i noticed on the graph for Antec grid it says "liquid temp" not cpu temp - maybe thats why its showing lower? im not sure

ill run some more tests and see but good thing you said to check it as it was loose on the chip!

Oh its just like Corsair Link where it shows the temperature of the coolant inside. I'm not sure now. My coolant in my H100i is usually cooler than actual CPU temps but I only use Corsair Link for reference and just take them with a grain of salt.
