When the 260X come go to the amd website and download the latest drivers for it , you'll have the option to do a fresh installation or an upgrade.

Display Driver Uninstaller

It even has an option to "Remove drivers and shut down(for installing new cards)".

EDIT: Download the newest drivers from AMD first and save to your desktop for easy access because when you do put the new card in and start the PC,you'll be in 800x600 desktop resolution and i find navigating a pain with that.

What are the specs of ur computer. cuz usually, with intel if you uninstall GPU drivers, it will use the intel-integrated GPU, and everything will look big. Not sure about AMD CPUs though

Just click on download drivers :)

How to save to desktop instead of installing it right now, I have not got the card yet, Im waiting for it.

It will download them to your default download directory , it won't install before clicking on it after its downloaded !

This is the link : http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Window...

You just download it and when your GPU arrives open it and click next till the installation is complete

This is the one to download : Catalyst Software Suite

That last driver that was linked came out as the 14.4 WHQLs for me and they have newer now. They're very similar in performance but might as well be up to date!

Catalyst 14.8

The 14.8 is in beta phase , wouldn't recommend it !

No..no it isn't.

It's WHQL certified.

Lots of people ran into issues with the 14.7 version of catalyst that's why its in the beta phase ( they say its beta on their website and they are the most reliable source ) if it wasn't in beta phase they would have forced everybody to update to it instead of advertising to an older catalyst driver.

The version 14.8 is only for APUs not for regular desktop graphics cards
" Compatible Operating Systems The AMD Catalyst™ Software for AMD Desktop APUs is designed to support the following platforms: Microsoft Windows: Windows 8.1 (32 & 64-bit version) Windows 7 (32 & 64-bit version with SP1 or higher)"

Wrong again,TopLuca.

Im running 14.8s and i have an Athlon II x4 635 and an R7 260x.

Works fine.

Go onto AMD's website and go to the 260x and click download latest drivers , then choose windows 7 64 bit , if a 14.8 Catalyst shows up then its the suitable one if not then its not yet fully functioning !

Thats what you'll get ( no 14.8 shows up )

I am not really sure how you have 14.8 yet 14.7 is in beta phase !

Alright this is unofficial release , they're yet to release it and downloading it might be beneficial but you can only download it from guru3d also it doesn't have the latest build according to this code.

in this case the driver is actually dated 02 July, so is older than the last standard driver ( 14.7 Beta & 14.4CCC )

DriverVer=07/02/2014, 14.201.1005.0000
DriverVer=07/09/2014, 14.200.1004.0000

Guru3D has an insider that gets all the AMD stuff early.

Yet the new supposed catalyst has older drivers from the code above which means that there's no point in downloading it until its fully functioning to get the benefit of newer drivers , The programming code was clear that the 14.4 and 14.7 drivers are a week newer than the 14.8 drivers.
