On my laptop I am able to connect with my Ethernet cable (wired connection) to the internet, but i am not able to access sites or play online games. I am on a college campus therefore the internet is provided for me. WiFi works fine with occasional kick off the web, but i do not understand why the wired is giving me trouble.

Sorry I took a bit to reply. I did as followed.
Went to the network sharing center. Right clicked on the wired connection/ethernet. Clicked properties, then went to properties on one of the internet protocol. I do not see where it says obtained both. Please bare in mind that this is windows 8 and that I am unfamiliar with how to appropriately navigate it.
