If you have read my previous thread, you may already know that I have put a gpu into my computer recently which was causing problems, so I decided to perform a fresh install. I have been able to install most if not all updates, except the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 update. It seems to install, but when I restart the computer to "configure it," I get to about 8% when it tells me it failed to configure and reverts back. I have tried four times to do this. Honestly, I have never had this problem so I don't know where to begin to diagnose any problems let alone fix them. I need the service pack because I get a blue screen every once in a while due to a file in the Windows folder, at least that's what it seems, and I believe the service pack might solve that problem. If anyone can provide me with any help that will be greatly appreciated!

It is absolutely legal, it's already activated as well. New? Well whatever installer I used did not have the service pack included, so I guess not. I assumed I'd be able to install the service pack after I installed Windows therefore saving me time making a newer Windows 7 installer on my flash drive.

Re-download the Redistributable Package for Win7 SP1 here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/gg635126.asp...

See if that works. There is no reason that shouldn't work on a new install of Windows 7 unless the hard drive has issues.

I will try that standalone download you recommended from Microsoft's website and see if that works. However, do you know which installer I should download? Thanks!

The standalone redistributable pack has an installer in the setup.exe

Just run it as Administrator.

This seems like an obvious thing to try, but I completely overlooked it, I will install the mobo drivers and update the bios and see if it helps anything, thanks!

Alright, I'll do that and see where it goes. Thanks!

As a side note, I just ran CPUID and got the temperatures of my system. It is showing that my CPU's minimum temperature is 72 degrees C, the max is 109 degrees C, and the average is about 86 degrees C. During this time I did heavy gaming, music production (REAPER) and just internet browsing. I know that these temperatures are extremely high, especially for idling at 72, which makes me wonder two things: is my CPU drastically overheating and causing a lot of problems, or is the thermometer broken, the CPU isn't causing any problems, and I just need some new drivers? Is there any way I could tell which it is?
