I would suggest looking up the system requirements for the apps in your field of study and then having the lappie custom built to those needs accordingly.
That's what my kids did going to college..... tho one just bot a Mac
.... he still has it. Aslo figure if this will be your only PC will it handle your gaming / entertainment needs.
Not only have I found it cheaper this way but the money is spent on the components you need and not wasted on things ya don't....for example, you can usually buy OS on campus cheap.
