So, yesterday I upgraded my Pentium G620 to an i7-2600.

All was fine during the cpu installation, then when I went to turn the computer back on there was a black screen. (From external graphics card). So I had to put my DVI cable into my onboard graphics and it works fine. I have noticed that my MSI HD 7870 isn't even displaying on Device manager or anything? And I don't have Intel HD graphics installed.

Set the BIOS graphics to PCI, yet that never works, it just automatically goes back to Onboard graphics.
Updated the BIOS to the latest version.
Reset the CMOS
Placed the card in a Conductive bag for 15 minutes
Removed the card and air blowed the PCIe slot.
So I removed all drivers and got fresh ones
Got all Bus controller drivers that was not installed in the device manager
Reinstalled windows to clear possible corrupt drivers.

Please respond soon, its my birthday! :(

Check in your BIOS in advanced settings, system configuration or system agent configuration. Look for NB PCI-E configuration. Look to see what your PCI-EX16 link speed is set to - Gen 3,2,1. If it's set to Gen 3, drop it to 2 and see if the card is recognized.

I don't have any option like that on my BIOS, I have a H61M-S2PV 2.2 Motherboard with the latest FBe BIOS update.

Look for Primary graphics in the BIOS and make sure it's to PCI-E, changing a CPU will rest the BIOS to defaults which usually is the iGPU rather than a discrete GPU

There was an option to put GFX to PCI (not PCI-e) and some others. Once I select the PCI option and reboot, the display still does not come on the graphics card. I can give you pictures of the actual bios if needs be?

Update: I was looking through the online user manual, and came across this;

Init Display First
Specifies the first initiation of the monitor display from the installed PCI graphics card, PCI Express graphics
card, or the onboard graphics.

Auto
Lets BIOS automatically configure this setting. (Default)

IGFX
Sets the onboard graphics as the first display.

PEG
Sets the PCI Express graphics card on the PCIEX16 slot as the first display

PCI
Sets the graphics card on the PCI slot as the first display.

Upon seeing this I restarted and changed the first display to PEG, but still no signal and no sign of 7800 HD radeon in device manager.

In your Device Manager, is your onboard graphics still enabled? If so, try disabling it and reboot. If that doesn't work, the only other thing I can think of is to try a different card in your mobo, and try your GPU in a different PC. Just dealt with a similar situation with a 2500 on a Gen 3 board and Gen 3 GPU, and that one ended up with RMAing the CPU.

I've just replaced the GPU with a 9500GT and still didn't work. It failed to show any signal on both cards so I had to reset the CMOS as I disabled intregrated graphics. So I don't think it's the card. I've also changed the CPU earlier and that didn't work either?

Im going to leave the card, processor and power all removed overnight. Please leave suggestions here and I'll try them out when I wake up, thanks.
