I've had three Asus motherboards.
The first was an old $50 AM3 board from like 2009. I never had any problems with it, it worked perfectly up until I replaced it a couple months ago.

The second was an Asus H97-Plus, which I got a couple months ago. It was defective, had severe board temperature issues even after full Bios updates, so I RMA'd it and replaced it (without replacing any other parts besides the case) with an Asus H97I-Plus, the ITX version of the board.

This ITX Asus H97I-Plus is the one I'm currently using, and it seems to also be defective. The temperature issue is fixed, but there are other problems. Sound cuts out and loops at times, and the PC won't sleep correctly, it just hibernates, which I was told was probably due to the motherboard. The Bios has been fully updated, all my drivers (chipset driver, audio driver, etc) are up to date. The same issues persisted before and after updates.

I already replaced the CPU, GPU, and RAM, and ran several HDD health checks, and ran Memcheck on the RAM, in case those were causing the problems, but nothing helped.

So, what's going on here? Did Asus quality control just go down the tubes in the last few years? I'm very hesitant to get another Asus board now, since I'll need to replace mine yet again, and I can't afford to keep replacing parts. Most of the parts so far were just RMA'd, but now that's past the deadline. Currently looking at this one.

Wow, i'm surprised to here the trouble you've had. Personally, I've only used Asus boards in all my past builds. I seem to find them extremely well built, Never had an issue!
That Gigabyte board looks pretty solid as well :)
Sad to hear all the trouble you've had :(
