Hey guys

So a few months back when i still used my laptop(an acer, but this has more to do with OS), i had an earlier version of the Windows 8 OS. i got a mouse for it and it was a gaming mouse, the Perixx MX-3000 (http://perixx.com/en/products/perixx-pro-1-2.html) and it had its own driver that you could download, to program certain lights and buttons on it (http://perixx.com/en/driver.html).

When i first got this driver, no matter what i did with the mouse no matter what usb port it was plugged into, the driver could not connect or sense that this mouse was here at all. i searched for a long time and found a website that told me to go into the RegEdit on my computer and change one value of a folder or name of a folder from 1 to 0 (or other way around) and it WORKED! no problems after that even when i upgraded to Windows 8.1.

Now my friend is having the same problem, but with a different mouse. He has the Azio G8T (http://www.aziocorp.com/en/mouse/25-g8-laserclass-gamin...) it too has a driver for this programmable mouse that you can download from the bottom of the link. He has Windows 8.1 but upgraded to that from 8 originally. i can no longer find the site that i had found so long ago and i cannot figure out how to fix it, he has the same problem i did.

The strange thing is that i built a computer a couple months ago and installed Windows 8.1 straight away, no upgrade from 8-8.1! and i moved my mouse over to this computer and redownloaded the driver and it all works perfectly fine. the driver for my friends mouse even works on my mouse too, that is strange. So i dont see what the difference is between upgrading from 8-8.1 and gettign 8.1 right away... But this is botherign both of us and i am looking for a solution to the problem of fixing his mouse, please help!

To quickly explain again its the driver on his computer not finding his mouse on his OS, but it will find my mouse on my OS/computer. it does not matter what ports the mouse is in (usb 3.0 or 2.0) and it doesnt matter how many times you redownload the driver.

Hope i did my best explaining the situation, i will be checking up on this daily so feel free to ask questions if it will help to fix the problem :)

Right click the start menu and select Run. Type in regedit and enter. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Control Panel > Mouse and all the mouse settings should now be visible on the right hand pane. I don't know which setting your previous configuration instructed changes to but perhaps you will remember once you are in there.

Were you able to return the device to normal service? If so, which setting was it that corrected the issue?
