AMD Display Driver Difficulties

Good day all,
I've recently purchased an SSHD for my Acer Aspire V3-551G-8454. Given the choice, I installed Windows 7 (instead of the default Windows 8 that came with the pre-installed HDD). As a result, I've had to reinstall drivers and such.

Here is my dilemma: I am trying to play Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls; however the game consistently crashes whenever I reach certain maps (in particular The Cesspools and Desolated Sands). My driver at this time is the driver recommended to me by the AMD website, which I believe is AMD Catalyst 14.4.
The battle.net forums have recommended that I downgrade my display drivers to AMD Catalyst 13.x. I have tried to attempt this with both 13.1 and 13.9, but upon restart I get the following error: "No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware."

When I try to play on my HDD, I am able to play on both of these maps perfectly fine. The drivers on my HDD were obtained by going through the Device Manager and selecting "Update Driver Software" (automatic search function) via right-click. I am not sure what the "name" is but the Driver Version is listed as 8.941.4.1000.

When I use these same drivers on my SSHD however, Diablo 3 and Hearthstone crash on startup; Steam refuses to boot; Windows Explorer is liable to crash; along with a slew of other things that I do not understand how they could be related to a display driver.

Any help toward resolving my issue would be greatly appreciated. Furthermore, if you could explain why my HDD's drivers do not work on my SSHD, that would be tremendous.

Well, to start with, your sshd is not your hdd, so the drivers for one won't work for the other. These are not really driver driven anyhow as the drivers for the storage controllers are what really matters. Anyhow, if the device isn't remarked with a question mark or exclamation in device driver then it's probably ok.

As to your other question, having the wrong, or incompatible or outdated drivers for ANY device can cause problems with ALL other devices depending on about a billion variables. Two devices trying to call for the same resources at the same time can make one, either or both devices initiate crashes. If you don't already have the installer downloaded for the CCC 14.4 I'd do that first. I would uninstall all current AMD...

Two devices trying to call for the same resources at the same time can make one, either or both devices initiate crashes. If you don't already have the installer downloaded for the CCC 14.4 I'd do that first. I would uninstall all current AMD drivers using the express uninstall method outlined at the link below and then reboot.

After reboot I would reinstall the 14.4 drivers. I would then go through the device manager and make sure there are no devices with issues by using the other link provided below. Once all drivers are up to date I would then go to the OEM website for your laptop and make sure you have the most recent BIOS version installed. Links to the OEM page for downloads on your laptop also below. You'll have to compare the BIOS version you have installed against the most recent version they have available. I know one of the BIOS updates affects hard drive compatibility. You shouldn't need to install them incrementally, just install the most recent one.
