M5A97 Asus mobo with uefi bios. Went from 5/11/2011(close guess) to 10/25/2012 build

I bought a new video card and my computer wouldn't start with it in so I decided to update my bios. After I updated it gave option to restore settings or enter setup and I tried to restore settings 2x and nothing happened so I entered setup. My bios won't detect the raid now. In the bios if set to RAID, no hard drives show up, but in the ez flash tool my 2 hard drives are there with everything on them. If I use the raid utility on start up my raid 0 is there and intact. But attempts to start just ask for correct boot device and I have to restart again.

If sata is set to ahci then my 2 drives can be selected for boot but they don't show up in the ex flash settings. Attempting to start up results in operating system missing error.

Any ideas?

Hey there, coordi!

Unfortunately, this is a common issue after BIOS updates.
Such an update is basically a firmware change. You have most probably killed the raid setup.

I found a thread that might help you: http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?p=3329132#post3329132
But most certainly you will need to to recreate your array and to reinstall the OS from scratch. As for the data - I really hope you do have a backup/image of it somewhere on another media device.

Here are the steps I found in case of a future BIOS update and how it should be done:
1./ Before you are going to flash a new BIOS into the related Chip of your mobo, you should enter the BIOS and set everything to "DEFAULT". Then you can flash the new BIOS...

1./ Before you are going to flash a new BIOS into the related Chip of your mobo, you should enter the BIOS and set everything to "DEFAULT". Then you can flash the new BIOS.
2./ After the flashing procedure you should power off the computer for a while (1-2 mins).
3./ As an additional security action you may clean the CMOS according your mobo manual.
4./ Then power on your computer, enter the BIOS, choose the "Optimized Settings" and set the SATA Controller to "RAID". Store the BIOS settings and reboot.
5./ Press CTRL+I while rebooting and check the integrity of your RAID array.
6./ Enter the BIOS again and do your special BIOS settings including the boot devices and HDD boot priority. Store the altered settings and reboot.
7./ Now you should be able to boot into the previously running Operating System.

Hope this helps you. Good luck!
