I just bought a new EVGA GeForce GTX 770 2GB superclocked edition. I am getting 30 fps average on Assassins Creed 3 on ultra. I was expecting to Run Battlefield 4 on Ultra with 60 FPS after seeingf the benchmarks, but I'm getting fps in the lower 30 mark.
My specs
Processor: Intel i5 2500k @ 3.30Ghz
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3
GPU: EVGA GTX 770 2GB SC
Motherboard: ASUS p8p67
HDD: 2 450GB HDDs

definitely something wrong. Run openharwaremonitor and see if anything is maxing out.

the chassis fans and the cpu fan are maxed out. the cpu load at its peak is also 99%. Is that normal? CPU core #1 was maxed out at peak too

Hmmm! Pl use HWMonitor to monitor the CPU temps and post here

Those are some high cpu temps! are you using stock cooler?

Are you Overclocking your CPU?

The stock cooler is always a problem. It runs the CPU a lot warmer than it needs to be and since the 2500k has turbo boost you are probably over locking it when it is under load and don't know it so yes I would def get a better CPU cooler for sure. Also that kinda sounds like a driver issue. When I went from my gtx560ti to my 780ti's in sli I had low fps issues too. I had to do a complete driver sweep and wipeout old drivers and start fresh and the problem was gone.

My Core i5 2400 which boosts upto 3.4Ghz doesnt get any Higher than 63degrees celcius. with a GTX 750 ti Oced i got Ultra 60 fps , and in battlefield 4 High 60 fps.

My i5 2500k with cooler master Evo clocked at 4.4ghz I never hit 60c

Mine stays at 60degrees in load , the worst case scenario is 63 degrees.
Do u know at what temp CPU throttles? i mean it stops turbo boost?

Yes as "azzazel_99" posted. Get the 212evo at the very least for the CPU. Lower temps will allow your CPU to perform better, stock cooler is terrible for intensive task such as gaming which you're also doing on ultra... and absolutely ridiculous for OC/benchmarking.
GPU temps are fine but again as mentioned above, you may want to try resetting/updating driver

If he is not overclocking then he does not need aftermarket cooler. He is at 3.3GHz which means he is not overclocking. In this case, he must consider removing the HSF (Heat Sink and Fan). Clean the fan while making sure that fans are not rotated during the cleaning task. Clean the thermal paste residue from the CPU top cover and heat sink itself. Apply new thermal paste like Arctic Silver on the top surface of the CPU and install the cleaned HSF again. That should do it.

What your forgetting is the 2500k has turbo boost so yes he is overclocking. Fact of the matter is the stock heat sinks are garbage and there are a lot of cpu's that don't even come with a stock heatsink because they are so terrible. If you game running a stock heatsink as a rule of thumb has ALWAYS been a bad idea. With stock heatsink you are walking the fine line of temp unsafe zone which is only gonna heat up the inside of your case more and potentially cause throttling or blue screens or just shitty performance. Stock heatsinks = bad idea for gaming.

So I need to do a fresh driver install, get a better CPU cooler and if it still doesn't work out, I'll need a better CPU.

No don't change CPU. Follow these steps:

Change the thermal paste, clean the HSF. Install HSF after cleaning. Check the temps and your FPS count. If no improvement then grab aftermarket cpu cooler. It should do it.

though you can definitely overclock your 2500k, its not going to amount to any noticeable gaming performance.

this is somewhat off topic now anyways, the cpu is not your problem.

just to rule out driver conflicts... run ddu...
http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/downloads.html
download that and run it in the safe restart clean(recommend).... then reinstall the latest nvidia drivers.
if you had an amd card installed before, also run it for amd.

at 1080p you should be getting 60fps no problem.

I deleted my NVIDIA and AMD drivers and reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers but there's not much improvement. There were some INTEL drivers too but I didn't delete them because they're probably integrated graphics, should I delete them too?

AMD drivers? Pl elaborate. Also please do the steps regarding HSF cleaning as well. Intel drivers should not obstruct in any way.

The AMD drivers from my previous GPU. The ATI Radeon HD 5770. I'll do the HSF cleaning and reply back

yeah its better to not have those old drivers lingering around. no, dont do anything with the intel drivers, they are the intergrated graphics and are not causing a problem.

download the unigine valley benchmark and run it at the extreme hd preset.... then report back your score so we can compare to other similar system setups.

you should be above 2000 score.

if your at 1500, something definitely isnt right. my old 7950 got a best of 1964 with a decent overclock, and you should definitely beat me. load up msi afterburner and let its hardware monitor log while you run the unigine valley benchmark. then look at the benchmark and see if your card is actually running at the core clock that it is supposed to be running. the graph should show a steady line running like 1100mhz, or whatever mhz your card runs at. if the line is jaggy then your card is throttling itself for some reason.

I got the same CPU and motherboard and GPU. You should easily get 80+ FPS.

Just to be 100% sure that BF4 runs on Your GTX: Deactivate the intel chip graphics in BIOS.

You can test if Your CPU or GPU slows the game.

- First You find the max FPS the CPU can deliver by joining an empty server with a expensive map like firestorm or Pearl Market.
- Set video settings to low. Go to the rim of the map and turn to the center. Check FPS.
- Then join the same map on a full server. Go to the same spot turn to center and check FPS.
If FPS are a lot lower CPU is too weak. Consider new cooler and overclocking to 4.2 or up to 4.6 (I use 4.6 @ +0,05Vcore)
If FPS change only a few frames the GPU does not work correctly. In that case
- Reinstall game
- Reinstalled video driver
If You tampered with the configuration files reset them or reinstall the game.
You can avoid redownloading by deleting just the game files but keeping the downloaded big data files in "data" and "update1,2,3" directories.
If that does not help try reinstalling the system. Lot of players wrote in Battlelog that it helped.
If all fails give back the card and get a new one. GTX is absolutely fine. Even a GTX760 gives 60+ FPS.

And do not play Ultra. It's nonsense and You won't tell the difference if You don't know what to look at.

You dont need a better CPU, you just need to sort the cooling.

I mow through bf4 with my 2500k. When im using my 144hz asus monitor i have no issues (granted im on 2 780ti's) holding 144fps +.....my cpu generally is at 70+ % usage but it runs through bf4 on ultra with no problems. Right now im on a 60hz 40 inch tv screen and I have NO issues staying above 60fps even when i was on my gtx560Ti classified overclocked i held a solid 60fps so your cpu is not the weak point. I use the Coolermaster 212 evo with the supplied paste it came with and i have no temp issues what so ever. I do have an extra fan on it though for a push pull config and that seemed to help a few degrees.
