Hi I am about to upgrade my b75 motherboard with only 2 dimm slots and a I3 3220 3rd gen process and nvidia 650GTX card.

I already have a local vendors 1066 4GB ram in 1 slot. I need atleast 8 GB of ram to play all games on full resolution.

Now I m not sure should I use a new 4GB ram at 1600MHz with current 1066MHz 4GB module or should I go for 4GB ram at 1600MHz + 4GB ram at 1600MHz or a single 8GB ram at 1600MHz.

Which one will give the best performance , i doubt that my old memory stick with a new 4gb wont work at 1600Mhz and thus I wont get much performance increase with that.

My budget is tight as I dont want to spent much on Ram , for me so far 4GB was enough but with some new game and games like company of heroes blitzkrieg I think atleast 8GB is needed to work at full graphics. Right now when I play company of heroes blitzkrieg at full graphics it hangs due to lack of ram as all 4Gb is used up.

thanks in advance.

You shouldn't mix and match RAM , you should get two of the same kind in dual channel in order to achieve the best results and avoid compatibility issues.

But then @topluca, I need to know will a 4+4 combination works better or a single 8GB at same 1600Mhz works better.

Single will work better , as the 4gb RAMs aren't designed for dual channel operation.

@Topluca thanks , then I am going for a single 8gb 1600 corsair vengeance ram.
