Build:
i5 4670k
Asus Maximus VI Hero
GTX 670
Windows 8.1

Problem:
Various boot problems that happen frequently on boot but in no apparent order:
1. Opens and boots to a black screen and no cursor (lights on mouse go off, screen has signal but black)
2. Opens, doesn't seem to boot at all and no signal to monitor.
3. Every other (or so) boots I get sent to a recovery mode (select to restart etc.) that seems to always show up fine (though I guess when it fails to boot it could be failing to boot here too).
4. Sometimes, graphics card can't post so fans rev up to maximum.

Misc. info:
- Have tried reinstalling graphics drivers etc. Seems to be no driver issue.
- After patiently restarting over and over again, always ends up booting fine eventually.
- When booted, exhibits no problem whatsoever. No platform instability, BSODs, or anything.
- This problem randomly started one day on bootup.

Is there anyone with similar problems or a good way to troubleshoot this short of a massive rebuild? Not sure if this is a software or hardware problem.

Yes, a long time ago I overclocked the CPU slightly. That's about it. Not 100% sure what the ultimate voltage was, but I stress tested the computer after I did it with linx for ~12 hours so I presumed it was alright.
