USB 3 Port with old cable?

When I connect my phone to what I know is a USB 3.0 port, I get the message that it could be faster if I plugged it into a 'super fast USB 3 port'. It is possible that there are driver issues and that the USB controller isn't installed correctly; however, my question is whether an older cable could cause that message to show up.

No. There's omlu usb cables. Not usb2.0 or usb3.0; just USB.

Some usb3.0 ports can be configured for fast charge eg through one of the usb3.0 devices.

100% wrong. USB 2.0 and 3.0 cables are different.

Getting USB3.0 speeds requires both endpoints and the cable in between to be USB3.0.
