Hi all, I need to upgrade my GeForce GTS 240 for obvious reasons. I am ashamed I let it get that old! Unfortunately I can't upgrade any other components at the moment, so the new card will need to work with my current power supply, motherboard, etc. I haven't personally upgraded anything before, so please bear with me.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 8000 with Intel i7 @ 2.80GHz, 8 GB ram, PCIE 2.0, and the power supply says "Max Output Power: 350W".

I have done some research and have chosen the EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB. It is PCIE 3.0 but I read that it is backwards compatible and should therefore work with what I have. Additionally, it doesn't suck up too much power so my PSU should be okay as well.

I would like to go pick it up at the store today, as it's the start of the weekend and Dead Rising 3 is out. Could someone please confirm if this card would work for sure with what I have? What about the SC version? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PS - Would this replacement also make my PC stop sounding like an aircraft taking off when running a game?

Normally I recommend people away from the GTX 750 Ti cause you pay more for that efficiency and low heat. However given your power limit the GTX 750 Ti is actually a good choice for you. It will be significantly faster in games too.
