Now the mother board came with the Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V aka Intel Gigabyte LAN. On older LAN connections I get 100 mbps and a lot faster internet speeds. I have done diagnostics of the new LAN device only to get Link speed: 10Mbps. The link partner is not capable of higher speeds every single time of testing. I have tried changing the speed and duplex setting, which when I turn to 100 mbps/Full duplex or higher, it disconnects the internet device for good then I have to re-install the drivers to get it working again. I have update BIOS, drivers to the correct updates and still I have this issue. I know my router is fine and my Cat5 cable, just tested it on my laptop with a realtek LAN card and was getting 100 mbps. Either the ethernet connector is damaged or I am missing a setting.

Solution
Even though a different ethernet adapter is OK with that cable, I would try a different cable with your suspect interface. Marginal cable is still the most likely culprit.
