Hello,
Looking for some pointers. As the title says I'm looking into some motherboards for my first build.
Wondering which one is better for gaming mainly? I'll be gaming and doing some school work with word and things like that. two choices are in the tite:
Gigabyte GA Z97 or Asus VII Hero

Obviously theres a price difference so I'm kind of wondering if the Gigabyte is decent enough for gaming or if I should shell out the extra money and go for the asus?

Just gaming, any H97 is fine. For gaming with SLI or Crossfire configurations, any Z97. For serious overclocking, a K series chip and a high end motherboard.

The gigabyte will do fine for gaming and even overclocking, the Hero will have many gaming oriented features as well as even more overclocking potential. Gigabyte's Sniper series would be an equivalent.

Personally i favor the Gigabyte, they both have similar specs, and the ASUS PCIe slots are 1 @ 16x, OR 2 @ 8x/8x, where as the Gigabyte is ALWAYS 16x/8x (that's how i understand it anyway)

The rest of the specs are quite similar though, i do like the 3 year warranty on them too
