I really think the i7 devils canyon would be good enough or do the haswell e's just blow them away...
it would be a lot cheaper to buy z97 parts and i do not think i would notice the speed difference in the games i play and the overall cpu power...because i can get a decent msi motherboard and i7 4790k for a good deal at microcenter...what does community think about this...

The only reason I could see getting an x99 platform with at least a 5930k is for the 40 pcie lanes which would be great for a multi GPU setup. However, the price difference alone does not scale with the performance increase. Z97 and a 4790k should be enough to blow any current game out of the water and will great for years to come.
You wouldn't notice difference b/w i5 4690k and i7 4790k in most games (exceptions are there like BF4), so getting a hexa core is out of question. The less price and better single core performance (atleast on stock) combined with the fact that games hardly require more than 4 threads is enough to kick Haswell-E out of any non-enthusiast gamer's list. I wouldn't get one even if I had $5k budget just for the fact that no game will really benefit from it, and even they do, it'll be years down the road.

Yeah the 4790K (or even 4690K as mentioned) with any decent MSI, ASUS or Gigabyte Z97 motherboard is a quality combination. The Haswell e is not worth the price increase for a gamer, unless you're building a game using CryEngine for example. There are benchmarks that show a performance increase in a few games using something like the Xeon chip, but what else could you spend that money on?
