Hello guys,
That is the first time I am writing to ask you for advice but I honestly don't know what may be causing my problems and how to solve them.
Recently I built a new PC, specs are as follows:
Core i7 4790K,
ASRock Z97 Extreme 4 motherboard,
2x 4GB of G.Skill Ripjaws,
a 650W BeQuiet DarkPower Pro PSU,
GeForce GTX770,
a 120 GB OCZ Vertex 4 SSD
and a 250GB WD HDD
and instantly my problems started. At first the system had problems with posting and the mobo error display indicated that they were caused by my SATA drives. The system would get stuck at the manufacturer logo and would not post at all. After rebooting it would boot up with no problems. I found some suggestions that it may be solved by restricting the Legacy USB support to windows only. It worked. For a while.
A while later (like two weeks) my system started taking a lot of time to switch off and after another day or two the windows was not able to start at all. Reinstalling or as I discovered later on, restoring the system from the last restore point was able to solve the issue. Now it turns out that usuallly unplugging SATA cables from my hard drives and optical drive and plugging them again is enough to get the system running. And it used to happen every couple days or so.
Today, after the system was not starting properly yet again I shut it down, did the usual reconnecting of SATA cables and tried to start it again but it would not start at all. Pressing power button didn't do anything. I kind of blamed mobo, so I thought that the damn thing finally broke down entirely. Still after like 10 minutes I tried again and the PC is running as if nothing happened. And once it starts running I can game on it for hours straight with no issues whatsoever.
While trying to figure out what is going on I shuffled with couple HDDs and it seems my drives are ok. For the rest of the parts I don't have replacements and I am not able to test them in another system. Temperature wise everything seems to be ok according to my mobo diagnostic app. The CPU could be a bit cooler but I am using the reference cooling for now so its 65-70 celcius while gaming is acceptable or so I heard.
Summing up, does anyone have any idea as to what may be causing it? What should I RMA?
I would be grateful for any hints, thanks
J
