Hello all, I have an AMD FX-4100 quad core processor(3.6ghz) and it runs perfectly fine with NO problems. Heres the catch. I ran CPUZ and it tells me that my core clock speed is at 1406mhz.

Ive been told that my cpu wont run any faster than the core clock speed of the cpu. Dose this mean that my CPU is only running at 1.4ghz? What exactly is clock speed and does it determine how fast/well my cpu works?

does it say that at idle or while at load ? cause if it is at idle, it is normal and your CPU will get to 3.6 while at load.

If your CPU isn't under load, then the clock speed automatically drops down.
When under load, that raises to 3.6 GHz.

That's perfectly normal, if your running it without a load, the cpu will auto underclock to save power. Then, when their is a load it will quickly go back to regular speeds, then if it's a heavy load it will go into turbo mode (auto overclock).

You can also turn this off in the BIOS, where the C1 states are at.

Alright guys, thank you all. This thought had crossed my mind after i posted this thread, but i decided to wait for confirmation.

Ive had no trouble playing anything, as my cpu only gets up to about 80% usage at the most ive seen. But i thought that i would check it out just in case.
