I have a Pentium Quad Core Processor and I am not sure if it can be done?

However, I thought I should get the opinion of experts, so anyone here knows about this.

I was planning to buy an LGA 1155 Motherboard but I am not sure if the processor is compatible with Motherboard.

Solution
Getting a new LGA775 motherboard for that system would be a waste of money IMHO, just wait until you can afford a new CPU and a new motherboard and buy them simultaneously.

That CPU will not work in any 1155 motherboard. Eduello linked with specs for this CPU. This model requires an older Socket 775 motherboard.

So it means I cannot use Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q8200 on a LGA 1155 Motherboard, I already have Asus p5kpl-am but it is an entry level and I have 2 HDDs Seagate each of 500 GB, there are three 120mm Fans in the cabinet, 1 in front, 1 in back and one at the bottom, the case is XG Viper 2, the power supply is 400 watts, 2 RAMs of 2GB each.

My problem is that the PC shuts down on its own frequently, sometimes the back fan makes noise, sometimes the fan inside the PSU makes noise, one even the CPU fan started making noise, then sometimes the HDD makes clicking sound, so I was thinking to get the PSU replaced with a Higher Watt along with a new Motherboard but a New Processor will cost me more so I wanted to just change the Motherboard, it looks like I cannot upgrade to 1155 socket, can you suggest some good motherboard for my system.

Using Classified Forums, Ebay and Craigslist this is what you can expect.

A high end LGA 775 MB used will run you around $50, one you can OC on with less options around $30-$40ish. You can pick up a decent power supply for around $40 as well.
So to crutch your system up... $70+

To move to LGA1155.. a cheap P67 or H77 you can pick up for around $50
A Pentium you can also pick up for around $50 possible you can find a I3 for around $50-$60
Add the Needed Power supply $40
Hopefully you can reuse your Ram
LGA1155 upgrade without Ram $140+

AM3+ upgrade "Better than LGA775 not as good as LGA1155"
Motherboard $50 new $30-$40 used
FX-4130 used $40
Power Supply $40
AM3+ upgrade $110+

Hopefully this helps you a bit.

""IMHO"" If you can find an reasonably priced 775 motherboard the 8300 is still a decent CPU for daily tasks and moderate gaming. Modern CPU's have moved so far past what the "average" user actually needs that they are over kill for most people.

To be completely honest with you man I had to sell my sig rig to get by. Right now I am rocking an 8300 @ 3.0Ghz with a 6870 and @ 1080P I have yet to see any issues with the games I play at decent settings 60+ If you can get a new i5/i7 then by all means do so. But if you need to get by with a c2q for the mean time you definitely can.
