Hello everyone.
My PC I3, 2100. works o.k with operations not involving keyboard.Either with Windows XP or Windows 7 my keyboard fails to function. Connected to another pc or laptop same keyboard functions ok.However ANY keyboard PS2 or USB connected to my computer fails to worfk. How ever the failure is not a continuous death,
Some times it recovers, works ok then, even while typing, sudden death. Some times turning pc off and on again helps.Sometimes not . Sometimes disconnecting usb keyboard and reconnecting helps.Sometimes not.ANY IDEA WHY?
p.s Any other usb device(printer; mouse; etc.) works properly on everyone of the pc usb connectors

If you could specify the model of keyboard you have that would be awesome.

If not, try plugging the keyboard into a different USB port. It may even be just down to a bad cable/connection, I used to have a wired mouse that did exactly the same so it could be the usb plug has gone bad or something.
Maybe try reinstalling your keyboard drivers, that either came with it or could be found on the manufacturers website.

If none of the above work, then buy a decent keyboard :)

Hi Adamson
Thanks for your answer.I will follow your suggested driver track(though on other windows 7 laptop they need no driver installing to work) . As I wrote ALL usb sockets resulted in the same keyboard failure. AND with several keyboards both usb and PS2(working ok on my other(laptop).
However I still need an answer looking for the failure INSIDE the pc(probably hardware nature like motherboard etc.)

I'm fairly unclear on what you're saying but I have ideas.

If you're saying that several keyboards failed/disconnected while plugged into the same USB port as your original one, then it is your USB port that has the problem.

If not, and all these keyboards disconnect no matter which USB port they're plugged into, then it is either a driver issue which seems unlikely. Or, it is a hardware issue (ports may not be connected to motherboard, interference etc.)

If all the keyboards fail on all the USB ports, but other USB devices like a mouse or a USB headset do not then I really cannot help you.

Unfortunately, your last sentence describes the pc failure as is
