Hello,
Why is the LX-600W power supply from Zalman not rated as 80Plus even though on paper it has reasonable efficiency?
Thanks.

Because it doesn't meet all the 80 plus standards at different loads. I have a zalman 500LX and i feel its decent from a budget standpoint. It handles its max load without problems. If you're on a budget then its a good choice otherwise go Seasonic/XFX.

Hi - There's a certification process and several of the LX series have not yet been certified. It's possible
they may not become certified either. At this point only the ZM700-LX has been certified as 80plus (230v EU),
The LE series which uses the same OEM - Hui Cheng Tech also has no 80plus cert models, so I suspect
it's a price point/design decision by Zalman.

That is, for a rating of 80Plus it needs to work throughout the range of 115-230V?
And why are there no reviews on it on the web like there are for other products?
I would love to receive answers from some other people.

Its unlikely you'll find many people replying as most ppl on toms use Corsair, Seasonic, EVGA, XFX etc

80 plus standard - tested at different loads (20%/ 40%/... of total load) and the psu can't exceed certain limits on power draw vs power delivery at the particular load. So it may pass all but the 20% load and it wont be 80plus even tho you'll be using it at at least 40% load.

The higher the efficiency the lower the discrepancy between wall watts and actual watts delivered to pc. This results in lower power bill and less heat from the PSU - as wasted power translates into heat - also since the heat is lower the PSU will last longer. Having said this i've had no problems with excessive heat on my Zalman but its not at Seasonic standards either.

Has nothing to do with the AC voltage you stated above. Us versions run at 115 while EU versions run at 230; There are also universal versions running at either 115 or 230 auto.
