Im about to get an widescreen monitor (ASUS MX299Q) for start "upgrading" my whole playing experience and stuff, wanted to know if what i got is enaugh for now to play all in high or some on ultra settings?? What should I upgrade next?? GTX 770 4gb is coming to my mind and new mb with i7 4th generation as well... what u guys think or recommend to go for next?? Or for higher resolution is even better to go for an AMD, like the R9 290 card?? Since they are dirty cheap compared to GTX cards... thanks for taking ur time in advance.

Solution
GTX770 (Also only available in 2GB and 4GB versions) is basically a GTX680 rebranded so you would see nearly no change there. R290 would be a significant improvement roughly equivalent to a GTX780, R290X roughly equivalent to a GTX780Ti.

You will not see much of a performance increase since the gtx 770 is an OC'd 680 (GK104) with faster RAM. Those GPUs carry a 256-bit bus with either 2 or 4gb of ram. the gtx 680 is still more than capable of running most games at high settings <1440p.

So no GTX 770 than...that ive got clear for now, there is right now an unique offer on german ebay, GTX 780ti 3gb for 444€ just down from 799€, no idea how so cheap but its a weekly special offer, I want to upgrade all but im not that rich eather, but the R9 290 are infinite times on sale from second hand but dirty cheap compared to any GTX card... I just dont like that the AMD sucks so much power... by the way, should I jump from i5 third gen to i7 4th gen or is for gaming still i5 more than enaugh once I go one gen up??

Maybe it would push the rest of the prices down, meaning the previous generations hehe... would be nice, thing is now is coming all new stuff out, mbs, DDR4, intels 5th generation... need to sell my car for all this stuff haha... well I am happy once I get my widescreen first.

if you already have a gtx680, you have plenty of gpu horsepower for ultra wide 1080p. there are definitely a few AAA games like crysis 3 and such that will need a few settings toned down if you want consistent fluid fps, but the 680 i still a very powerful gpu in gaming standards. i used my old 7950(noticeably slower than the 680) for 1440p gaming for almost a year and throughly enjoying my gaming experience.
