Motherboard Temperature Question

Earlier this week, I installed new motherboard, an MSI 990FXA-GD80V2. So far, it's been a super performer, not any issues at all. I have been using HWMonitor to monitor the system temps, and they have been really good all week, around 35C on the board and CPU has never gone higher than 47C, no matter what I throw at it.
Then this afternoon I had a power outage, actually it came on and went off around 4 times very quickly, then went off for a few minutes. When I regained power, I booted it back up, and everything ran fine, but I noticed a difference on HWMonitor. Before, there were only 2 sensor readings TMPIN 0 and 2, but now another one has appeared, showing as TMPIN 1. The other 2 are always between
35 and 40C, but this new one is 62C, and goes as high as 75C when under heavy load. I don't know if this is a malfunction, a bad sensor, software glitch or what. The only thing I could imagine getting that hot would be right at the CPU socket, but my CPU core temp stays under 45, no matter what (liquid cooled). Why such a disparity between the other board temps and this one? If it's legitimate reading, is it running hot? (It's the highest temp on the board, CPU and GFX card). The rig is still running like a Swiss watch, but it's worrying me regardless. If anyone could tell me what that reading might be, and if it's normal or not, ,I would greatly appreciate it.

Hardware

MSI FXA990FXA-GD80V2
16 GB Patriot DDR3 PC3 1600 MHz RAM
AMD FX8350 8 core CPU @ 4.2 GHz
HD7870 2 GB GPU
Corsair TX750 PSU

Thanks for your time!

OK - So how are you going to get temps of a fully loaded CPU by using the BIOS? Seems like the only way would be to run your stress test for a while then reboot into the BIOS and hope that the CPU temps haven't dropped too much. In my experience, the temps drop pretty rapidly when you quit the stress test.

I uninstalled HWID, installed AMD Overdrive, and got even whackier readings. My board is now running at 292C. I believe that is an erroneous reading.

On this board you can monitor/change BIOS from inside Windows, but this is the only one I've ever had that would do that, it's a newer feature. Not worried about CPU temp though.

You were right, this is a much better monitoring application, though it suffers from giving a little too much information. Once configured though, I think it will be great. That sensor is still showing, reading between 65-75C, and is labeled as "Aux". IDK, I'm thinking it might be Northbridge, but really not sure. I have submitted it to TS at MSI, hopefully they can clear it up for me soon, as I'm a little hesitant to crank it up until I find out what that reading is. Thanks for the HWInfo tip, it's a good program, a lot better than HWMonitor.

Did some research, and I believe that sensor is the Northbridge, and although 65-75C is still within tolerable limits, I decided to get a fan on it, and it's now dropped to between 50-65C, well within safe parameters. Moderator can close this thread and mark it solved.

The more I monitor this the more it totally baffles me. I rearranged the fans to get some more airflow on it, even though I already had 3 intake and 1 exhaust case fans installed. My 7870 GFX card gets pretty warm, and when installed in the first PCIe slot, sits almost on top of the NB heatsink, so I moved it down. Still getting temp readings of 63C just idling, and as high as 76C under load. However, I open the case up and touch the heatsink while it's supposedly over 150F, and it is barely mildly warm, definitely not hot. So, at this point, I am about ready to decide that this is a malfunctioning sensor, ghost reading or something of that sort. None of the other temps look high at all, and you would think that if the NB got that hot, the CPU and others would rise somewhat as well. Having no stability issues, no crashes, no BSOD's, starting to think I was worried about nothing.

Opinions, anyone?
