780ti or wait for the 880s/980?

I have the money to buy a 780ti right now but I don't know whether to get it or wait for the 880 or 980 or whatever the rumors are right now.

September 19th for a GTX 980 that should be as fast or faster than a GTX 780 Ti for $500. Can you wait that long?

I'm well aware, the main rumors are though that it will be stronger than the 780 but weaker than the 780ti. The thing I'm going for here is stronger than the 780 but if I can get that cheaper with the 880/980 I can wait for those.

Why not just wait for the prices to drop for the GTX 780 and get SLI?
