I think there is a problem with one or more of my drives now as the computer becomes unresponsive when I try to load things, especially after boot. The program stops responding and any other programs I try to use will become unresponsive or even the taskbar; usually it recovers after 5 minutes. I had a Windows message saying it was temporarily unable to read 'the drive' so then I 'scanned and repaired' which took ages and didn't do anything. I looked at system restore then but apparently no restore point had been created.... :l (protection was enabled). So I ran a full scan on AVG which came back with plenty of errors which are 'all corrected' which also didn't do anything.
So I've ended up running this AVG disk doctor which has got stuck at about quarter way (not frozen) but I think I should leave it.

Please help has my SSD reached the end of its days??? (About a year)

Windows 8.1
Vertex 3 SSD
Western Digital 500gb blue, 1TB black
i7 4770k
GTX 770 MSI
MSI Z87 G45 Gaming motherboard

Thanks but the first link returns 404 error and the second seems to be similar to what AVG tuneup is doing. Is it better? Then again the tuneup is a trial :). The disk doctor worked after I left it overnight but said no errors, but that only scanned the SSD. Know the tuneup has been doing a defrag for all eternity.

go to filehippo.com .. get malwarebytes scan the system for virus's ,, same website... download ccleaner and defraggler, ccleaner will remove all your junk and defraggler is a nice fast n easy defragmentation tool ,, the site also has many other useful tools and programs :) (don't defrag your SSD)

Before I saw your answer I defragged my two hard drives (not SSD) with tuneup with took 7 hours. It seems more stable but the computer pretty much crashed when I loaded Civ V (which has long load times) so it's not perfect. I checked all drives for errors and they're fine apparently. Should I still try running these programs you've sent me? They seem to do a similar thing; tuneup also cleans stuff up like file history and stuff.

I looked at defraggler but it said that my disks weren't fragmented at all and I ran CCleaner. Not convinced it did anything.

Do you think it could be ram? Civ V still has a decent chance of crashing.
